Sansevieria (also known as snake plant or mother-in-law's tongue)

CARE TIPS 

  1. Light: While Sansevieria can tolerate low light, it thrives in bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

  2. Watering: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot. In winter, water even less frequently.

  3. Soil: Use well-draining soil, such as a cactus or succulent mix. This prevents water from sitting in the soil and causing root rot.

  4. Temperature: Sansevieria prefers temperatures between 21°C to 32°C but can tolerate a range of 13°C to 29°C. Keep it away from drafts and cold windows.

  5. Humidity: This plant doesn't require high humidity and does well in average household humidity levels.

  6. Fertilisation: Fertilise lightly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, all-purpose organic plant food (Biofeed obviously).

  7. Repotting: Sansevieria has a slow growth rate and doesn't need frequent repotting. Repot only when the plant becomes root-bound, typically every 2-3 years.

  8. Propagation: Snake plants can be easily propagated by leaf cuttings or division. For leaf cuttings, cut a leaf into sections and plant them in soil. For division, separate the plant at the roots and plant each section separately.
